Simple Break

Adriel Estrada's break had some excitement and with some new stuff.
Adriel Estrada a junior at South East High School spent his break with nothing extremely exciting. "Paintball and the Holidays, were pretty much the exciting parts" said Estrada. Getting clothes, money and a video game for Christmas and spending New Years with his neighbor, made his holidays fun. With a New Year, he also has a new look and he cut his hair because, "I was tired of my old hair" said Estrada. Now starting the New Year he has one goal he wants to achieve, to get a job.

Chuga Chuga Choo Choo

Interact collects toys for the children of Tecate, Mexico.

Leadership advisor Ms. Che said, “Leadership is partnering up with Interact to help gather toys.” Leadership and Interact will be collecting toys from November 30 through December 16, 2009. Interact is in charge of the drive. Interact first conducted the drive in 2006.
Anthony Romero, a junior at SEHS said, “It’s great that people are thinking about others in need, especially since many parents [have] lost their jobs.” The drive started off with hardly any donations, but as Christmas draws near students seem to feel the urge to donate. Charles Borja, a junior at SEHS, said, “I donated because I have some extra toys and it is for a good cause.”
Toy donations from Interact will go to the Hacienda Hotel in El Segundo, where they will be organized for The Toy Train to Tecate, Mexico. Many students and other Interact clubs from high schools throughout Los Angeles help organize the toys.
Mr. Cottom, advisor of Interact, said, “I load up my truck with all the toys that Interact has gathered and take them to the hotel, where Interact (High School level of Rotary), Rotaract (College level of Rotary) and Rotarians help with organizing and are happy to fellowship.
On January 6, 2010 The Toy Train will ride the rails to Tecate, Mexico and volunteers over 18 years of age will distribute the toys on the celebration of the religious holiday of Epiphany (The Three Kings).

End with a Bang

With the Azalea Bowl win, the South East High School Jaguars go strong to the end of their season.

Miguel Montes, #7 and a junior at SEHS, felt total confidence before going against the South Gate Rams. He knew they had some talent on their team but that didn't stop him from wanting to win. Everyone at SEHS was excited for this game because it shows who has the best football team in South Gate.
The game started of pretty smooth with the Jaguars leading the first quarter 3-0. As the game went on, the Jaguars held the lead but the Rams put up a good fight when they scored 7 at the end of the second quarter making the score 7-11. The Jaguars were determined to win this game and by the end of the third quarter the score was 9-25.
The Jaguars won the Azalea Bowl 33-16 and adding another victory to that 3 time winning streak. Montes did not take all the credit for winning and decided to name some players who made the win possible. Montes said, “well, without a doubt, Robert Lewis is the best player on the team, but other star players are Rolando Sandoval, Windale Scott, David Godoy, Ruben Rosero Jr., John Belton and Carlos Cid."
"I'm pretty sure we’re making playoffs, hopefully we can get a home game" said Montes. The Jaguars will go to the playoffs after ending their season with a loss to Roosevelt.

Where it all began...(G.O.S.S)

Adriel Estrada, a junior at South East High School, wants to succeed in high school so he can become a crime scene investigator.

"Doing good in high school, raising my GPA, and going to a good school can help me overcome my obstacles" said Estrada. These are just some of the obstacles that he has to face but they won't stop him in becomeing a crime scene investigator. He even has obstacles when it comes to being a crime scene investigator like dedication, money and high school. It all started when he watched the show "Cold Case Files" which shows investigators cracking old cases.
He would really like to start at a good law school so he can learn the necessary lessons in becoming a crime scene investigator. Ever since he had the idea of the future, that was the first step closer to his goal.

Farewell to Summer

Beatriz Alvarado a 10th grade student at South East High School will miss the fun she had over the summer. Although most of her time over the summer she didn't do very much, she enjoyed it with her friends. She went out to parties so her summer was not boring at all. In July she went to Arizona to go boating and swimming at the lake. As her summer moved on to the end of August she went to Vegas to walk around and just simply have fun. She did spend her summer with lots of fun but since school starting she had to say bye to it.
